Turning David Lynch’s vision into online reality: serious stuff for Playstation
Fluid design, based at the Custard Factory in Birmingham, commissioned me to produce various animations for the eagerly awaited PlayStation 2 launch.
It was one of my first independent roles and a remarkable introduction, to be working on such a compelling, multiple-agency international project.
Globally, the talent involved was ridiculous — David Lynch in the U.S, Trevor Beattie of TBWA in London, Chris Cunningham, the Fluid team — it really was an education.
I produced a range of online adverts based on David Lynch's 'The Third Place' TV commercial, animations for e-flyers (using Macromedia Flash) and built the Technical Specifications CD-ROM using Macromedia Director.

I created this animation of the then-new PlayStation 2 console, using masks and scaling techniques to give the impression of a rotating form, enhanced with subtle fragments of random “debris” to heighten the effect.
